William Ritter, AIA, Brings Wealth of Experience and Knowledge to KAI Design

(St. Louis, MO) KAI Design is excited to announce the hiring of William Ritter, AIA, as Senior Project Architect at its St. Louis headquarters.

Ritter has nearly 40 years of design expertise, which has included roles as a Discipline Lead, Project Manager, Planner, Director of Design, Chief Architect, and Interior Designer. His extensive portfolio includes projects of varying scale from a single building to entire communities in nearly every U.S. state as well as abroad in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Djibouti, and Saudi Arabia.

“KAI is elated to have William (Bill) Ritter join our Design team in St. Louis. Bill is a seasoned architect that truly has done it all over his extensive career. His wide range of project types, national and international practice experience coupled with his ability to get into the details while keeping his eye on the horizon for the design endgame is invaluable,” said KAI Managing Partner Brad Simmons, FAIA. “Bill is a proven technical expert who truly knows how to put a building together the right way – while mentoring young practitioners.”

As a Senior Project Architect at KAI, Ritter is responsible for functional space planning, development of design and construction documents, and working with KAI’s multi-disciplinary team to maintain design continuity and constructability of the building project.

“During the course of my career, the main objective has always been to pursue projects that stir my interests, challenge my skills, and benefit the end user. Additionally, the complexity of large projects such as community, campus and base planning developments interests me because of the impact on a broader user group,” said Ritter. “I am looking forward to the opportunity to share my extensive design background with KAI’s talented team and clients.”

His diversity of work includes large-scale projects in the federal, public, and private sectors, as well as projects in the healthcare, office/commercial, multi-family housing, spiritual, education, state/municipal and industrial industries. A significant portion of his career has been dedicated to military-based projects including working with the Air Force, Army, National Guard and Space Force. Some of his other notable St. Louis-based projects include the Webster Groves City Hall Complex, 126th Air Refueling Wing Headquarters at Scott Air Force Base, and the Mehlville Fire Protection District Headquarters.

Ritter has a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Illinois at Chicago and is a member of the American Institute of Architects, Missouri Council of Architects, U.S. Green Building Council – Missouri Gateway Chapter, and Project Management Institute.
