L’Antic Colonial’s New Showroom Celebrates Nature as Source of Inspiration for Company’s Materials

The 30th edition of Porcelanosa Group’s International Global Architecture and Interior Design Exhibition will be taking place from February 19th to March 22nd. To mark its 25th anniversary, Porcelanosa Group company L’Antic Colonial has had its showroom fully revamped by prestigious design studio Summumstudio.

Atrium, the project by Summumstudio, stands out for its inspirational design, charged with symbolism. It is also envisaged to reflect the spirit of the company and its origins, emphasizing L’Antic Colonial’s values as a clear distinguishing hallmark. The end result is a unique showroom, designed to extol nature as a source of inspiration and beauty.

José María Gimeno, the founder and creative director of Summumstudio, explained that “Nature is synonymous with harmony and perfection. It is living architecture, and many cultures’ growth and evolution have been based on a deep respect for it.”

L’Antic Colonial’s admiration for the natural world and its quest for fine materials are highlighted by a showroom that only reveals itself once visitors have passed through a gateway of “tongues of lava”. This leads into an imposing atrium, where water, light and differing materials are used as a linking thread in a series of display areas whose design is defined by their links with nature.

The new showroom is made up of various different settings, used to showcase the wide variety of natural materials that L’Antic Colonial offers, such as wood, natural stone, and mosaic and ceramic tiles.

The 2023 Anuaria & Emporia Awards

Summumstudio holds first place in the Veredictas World Ambassador ranks; a classification that takes into account the total number of design and architecture awards won worldwide. The ranking system is drawn up by Veredictas Internacional, an organization that counts on the support of leading professional bodies, the trade press, and universities in over 20 countries.

This week, it was disclosed that four designs by Summumstudio for Uecko, Exagres and Mercury Cerámica have been awarded prizes in the 2023 edition of the Anuaria National Graphic Design Awards.

Five of Summumstudio’s ephemeral spaces were also awarded prizes at the 2023 National Ephemeral Architecture Awards, whose prize-giving ceremony takes place today in Madrid. This is the third consecutive edition at which Summumstudio has been singled out for a prize.

Among the five projects that received a distinction, two were the winners of a first prize. The stand for WOW Design at the US trade fair COVERINGS 2023 won an Emporia de Oro Award in the best trade fair stand category, and a second Emporia de Oro Award, this time in the miscellaneous space category, went to “Home, Sweet Home”, an ephemeral space for WOW Design at CASA Decor 2023.

In the best trade fair stand category, other projects by Summumstudio were the winners of an Emporia Selección Award: WOW Design’s stand at CERSAIE 2023 (Italy), Neolith’s stand at CEVISAMA 2022, and the Madrid Autonomous Community’s stand at Fitur 2023.
