AIM Research Finds Social Media as a Reliable Source for Business

Accountability Information Management, Inc. (AIM), a leading B2B research company, recently published a new AIM Snapshot research evaluating the reliability of business information in social media. The study found that building professionals find the information on social media to be fairly reliable and useful to their job.

The AIM researched found that interior designers and architects are more likely than engineers and facility professionals to find the information valuable for their job. However, they are also aware not all information can be considered reliable.

As more and more information is available through social media channels, especially with the surge during the pandemic, it may become even more difficult for professionals to sift through the volume to find what they need. And some building professionals that participated in the AIM research indicate that they understand they will need to be cautious of information found on social media.

“Social media can provide instant news and can be a great wealth of information,” says Patty Fleider director of research at AIM. “Through our research, it became clear that if you combine your social media news with verified sources, accurate information may have a greater chance of emerging than ever before, making reliability the norm.”

For this study, AIM surveyed architects, interior designers, engineers and facility managers. The survey was conducted online in January 2021. Overall response was 153 completed surveys. The full Snapshots report can be downloaded free of charge at
